Mumbai Rains

“Heavy Downpour Disrupts Rail, Road and Air Services”

Mumbai: Heavy monsoon rains continued to lash Mumbai on Monday, severely affecting normal life across the city. Persistent downpours led to widespread waterlogging, traffic congestion, and disruptions to rail, road, and air services, causing inconvenience to thousands of commuters.

Several low-lying areas witnessed flooding after hours of continuous rainfall, slowing vehicular movement on major roads and causing long traffic jams. Civic authorities deployed emergency response teams to clear waterlogged stretches and ensure the smooth movement of traffic.

Mumbai’s suburban railway network, the city’s lifeline, experienced delays on several routes due to water accumulation on tracks and reduced visibility. Some long-distance train services were cancelled or rescheduled, while passengers were advised to check the latest train status before travelling.

Air travel was also affected as heavy rain and poor visibility resulted in delays to several arriving and departing flights. Airlines issued travel advisories asking passengers to leave early for the airport and monitor flight schedules for any changes.

The weather department has forecast continued moderate to heavy rainfall over Mumbai and neighbouring districts over the next 24 hours. Residents living in low-lying areas have been advised to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow updates issued by local authorities.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has activated emergency control rooms and intensified drainage operations to minimize flooding. Disaster response teams remain on standby to handle any emergencies arising from the ongoing monsoon conditions.

Authorities have urged citizens to avoid venturing into flooded roads, maintain caution while commuting, and stay updated through official weather bulletins and traffic advisories.

Live updates on rainfall, traffic diversions, train services, flight schedules, and weather alerts are expected throughout the day as Mumbai continues to battle intense monsoon showers.
