From ₹27,833 a Month to Building a Multi-Crore Fintech: The Inspiring Journey of Sharan Hegde
By Gen Z Express Desk
Success rarely happens overnight. Behind every achievement are years of discipline, learning, and perseverance. The story of Sharan Hegde, popularly known as Finance with Sharan, shows how determination, continuous learning, and the smart use of digital platforms can transform an ordinary career into an extraordinary one.
Today, Sharan is one of India’s best-known personal finance educators and entrepreneurs. His journey from a young engineer earning a modest salary to leading a fast-growing fintech company is an inspiration for students, young professionals, and aspiring entrepreneurs.
An Inspiration for the Digital Generation
Sharan Hegde’s journey demonstrates that success is not determined by where someone starts but by the willingness to keep learning, adapting, and creating value.
From earning ₹27,833 a month as a young corporate employee to becoming a leading finance educator and fintech entrepreneur before the age of 30, his story encourages young people to embrace digital opportunities, develop practical skills, and think beyond conventional career paths.
For students and aspiring entrepreneurs, the message is clear: start small, stay consistent, keep learning, and let every challenge become a stepping stone toward a bigger dream.
Stage 1: Learning the Value of Money
After completing his Mechanical Engineering degree from RV College of Engineering, Sharan began his career with a corporate job at KPMG. His annual salary was around ₹4.5 lakh, translating to approximately ₹27,833 per month after deductions.
Living in Bengaluru was not easy. He paid nearly ₹9,500 as rent and still made it a priority to invest ₹5,000 every month through Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs). Rather than spending freely, he learned to budget carefully and developed strong financial discipline—lessons that later became the foundation of his career.
Life Lesson: Financial freedom begins with disciplined saving and investing, regardless of income.
Stage 2: Turning a Setback into an Opportunity
The COVID-19 pandemic became a turning point in Sharan’s life. After missing out on a promotion at work, he decided to rethink his future.
Instead of focusing only on preparing for an MBA, he began creating simple, easy-to-understand videos explaining personal finance. Using only a smartphone, he recorded videos from his mother’s room while his sister helped edit them.
Inspired by successful digital creators, Sharan believed that financial education could be made simple and accessible to everyone.
Life Lesson: Sometimes life’s biggest disappointments become the starting point for greater success.
Stage 3: Building a Successful Content Career
Consistency proved to be Sharan’s greatest strength. He uploaded content every day without taking breaks.
Within just three months, he earned his first brand partnership worth ₹2,000. Six months later, his audience had grown to more than one million followers.
As demand for financial education increased across social media, brand collaborations expanded rapidly, with his content business reportedly generating more than ₹20 lakh per month.
Life Lesson: Consistency and valuable content can create opportunities that traditional careers may never offer.
Stage 4: From Creator to Entrepreneur
Recognising that social media popularity alone may not last forever, Sharan took the next step by launching The 1% Club.
The platform was designed to help people move beyond simply watching finance videos to actually applying financial knowledge in their lives.
The venture attracted significant investor confidence, securing ₹10 crore in funding from Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath. The platform later grew to serve more than 100,000 members.
Life Lesson: Long-term success comes from building businesses that solve real problems.
Stage 5: Building an AI-Powered Wealth Management Company
Sharan continued expanding beyond financial education. His company obtained a SEBI Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) licence, allowing it to offer regulated investment advisory services.
The business now manages public investment assets worth more than ₹1,300 crore while developing AI-powered financial planning tools with a growing team of around 150 professionals.
His vision is to make personalised wealth management accessible through technology.
Life Lesson: Innovation and continuous learning help businesses stay relevant in a rapidly changing world.
Sharan’s Three-Step Formula for Success
Sharan believes young people can prepare themselves for the future by following three simple principles:
- Master one valuable skill that solves a real-world problem, whether in technology, AI, finance, operations, or another specialised field.
- Build a focused audience by sharing useful knowledge consistently. A loyal community matters more than having millions of followers.
- Create systems or products that allow your expertise to reach more people and grow into a sustainable business.
